Arctic Flora and Fauna

A series of arctic sculptures highlighting flora and fauna vulnerable to climate change. By combining species from across biological kingdoms, I hope to evoke a sense of an interdependent ecosystem where two very different forms of life share similar fates. The sculptures are both portraits and landscapes, reminding us that we cannot be separated from our environment, nor does the environment exist independently of the creatures that mold it.

For over 5,000 years the Svalbard reindeer, the smallest subspecies of reindeer, has grazed on the summer grasses, herbs, lichens, mosses, and wildflowers of the Arctic archipelago of Svalbard, Norway. Adaptations to the extreme weather include thick fur, short legs, a great ability to store fat and being super chill!
