A Slow Apocalypse
2014

A dynamic, participatory installation at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, "A Slow Apocalypse" prompted participants to draw climate change related images on handmade paper. After the event, the sheets were bound into a book.

Event description: Unlike the ultimate, sudden end, A Slow Apocalypse is a process, a journey. The itinerary includes extreme weather events, droughts, floods, sea level rise, wildfires, epidemics, and pollution. These steps in turn cause soil erosion, food shortages, starvation, disease, toxic water, desertification, mass extinction, refugees, and resource wars. Based on prompts culled from a veritable glossary of ecological disruption and disaster, draw your version of a slow apocalypse on a variety of handmade paper by artist Maggie Puckett.
