TOTAL OCEAN RECALL

"Total Ocean Recall" is a collaborative, community project that took place at Version Fest’s NFO XPO April 24 and 25 in Chicago. Visitors to the experimental art fair were encouraged to help remember, draw and list the ocean's inhabitants including animals, plants, fungi, and micro-organisms. Using pens, markers, and colored pencils, over 100 species were rendered on handmade paper, representing the collective oceanic memory of the art fair's visitors. The paper is currently being bound into a book. Documentation of the process and the final book will be available here. The purpose of this project is not only to encourage participators to seek more knowledge about the world's ocean and its inhabitants, but to make them examine our society's reliance on external sources for access to mass amounts of information.
